YIELDING TO WHAT CHRIST HAS ALREADY DONE!

Baptism is the foundational step of the Christian walk. It is not about earning your way to God, but surrendering to Him. If you are ready to respond to the Gospel, we would love to walk this beautiful journey with you.

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Not a Work, But a Submission

Many people feel they need to "clean up their lives" or reach a certain level of spiritual perfection before they can be baptized. But the invitation to baptism is exactly the opposite.

Baptism is an act of passive submission. It is not a work you do to save yourself; rather, it is a beautiful surrender where you yield entirely to what Christ has already done for you on the cross. When we go down into the water, we participate in Jesus's death and burial. When we are raised up, we are raised to walk in a brand-new life, washed clean by His grace and brought into His covenant family.

WHAT TO EXPECT!

The Conversation

No pressure, just truth.

It starts with a simple conversation. You’ll sit down with one of our leaders to talk about the Gospel, what baptism means, and answer any questions you might have. There is no test to pass and no pressure—just open, honest dialogue about Jesus

The Confession

Declaring Jesus as Lord.

Before stepping into the water, you will have the opportunity to confess your faith, acknowledging that Jesus is the Son of God and the Lord of your life.

The Surrender

Going into the water.

You will be fully immersed in water, symbolizing the burial of your old self and the washing away of sins, and immediately raised up into your new life in Christ. We provide everything you need—towels, garments, and private changing rooms.

The Celebration

Welcome to the family.

At Riverside, we celebrate this! You aren't just making a private decision; you are being born into a family. You will be surrounded by brothers and sisters who are committed to walking alongside you in this new chapter.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

While many choose to be baptized during our Sunday gatherings so the church family can celebrate, it is not a requirement. Baptisms can happen any day, at any time, with just a few close friends, family, and a leader present.

We view baptism as a conscious, personal surrender to the Gospel. Because a baby cannot make that choice, we encourage those who were baptized as infants to take this step of believer's baptism as a personal declaration of their faith.

Just yourself. We keep garments, towels, and toiletries fully stocked and ready at all times.
